Newsletter for June 2022
After 2+ years of program shutdown, it has been a busy but very successful 3 months for the Collingwood Trailblazers since the Pretty River Academy opened up their gym to us. Approximately 250 kids got an opportunity to play basketball! We offered development programs for those in kindergarten through grade 10, and the U17 Boys team that was formed at the last-minute went on to have a great season and win their Provincial Cup!
2022-23 Rep Teams:
We hope to have as many rep (travel) teams as possible next year. It is dependent on gym access, suitable qualified coaches, and a sufficient number of players.
- We are now accepting coach applications. Information is here. The deadline is the end of June.
- Players need to register for September tryouts. Information is here. The deadline is not until the beginning of September, but team viability will be based on these registrations.
The adults have also been busy:
- Thank you to all the coaches who have supported play at all levels.
- We offered a Learn To Train coaching certification last weekend, and 7 local people completed this first-level course.
- We held a general meeting on Jun 14th.
- We have some dedicated coaches and other volunteers, but continue to need people to fill roles in order to successfully operate. We are hoping to fill the positions listed below. Please email collingwoodtrailblazers@gmail.com if you are interested.
- Website & Registration
- Uniforms & equipment manager
- Lead Coordinator(s) for fall and/or spring development programs
Please remember that we are a non-profit organization run by volunteers!
